I am 35 years old and was born with a medical condition called spina bifida. I had several issues due to my condition, including a bone infection that led to the amputation of my left leg. Most people would consider it a great misfortune, but I saw it as just another of my life's events. This experience led me to meet many new people, so I like to call my amputation on 19 October 2011 an adventure. I am grateful to the many people who supported me, including the A4A organization and especially Amy Cammilleri Zahra, who was there for me before and after my surgery. Thanks to them, I overcame this challenge in my life with serenity and a smile on my face. The physiotherapists at the Amputee Rehabilitation Unit at St Luke's were also of great help. This experience taught me that whatever circumstances we find ourselves in, we can use it to motivate and inspire ourselves and others.
